It is important that the wax is soft to make the procedure as comfortable and effective as possible. We recommend using medicated olive oil drops, once a day into the affected ear and repeat for five days before your appointment.
You can call and speak to the hearing practitioner before your appointment if you have any problems such as:
Dry tickly cough or irritable throat
Poor neck/head control
Diabetes
Currently taking medication to thin the blood
High/low blood pressure
WHEN YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR GP
If you have pain lasting for more than a month
Any middle infections within the last month
Any current or recurrent ear infections
Any past operations in and around the ear
Suspect you have a perforated eardrum
Any discharge or fluid from the ear within the last month.
